Preserving Forestdale’s Natural Heritage
Forestdale exudes natural beauty that reveals itself at every turn. When we take the time to see and treasure these surrounds, caring for this magic comes naturally, it’s a quiet kind of magic. This spirit is why Forest 4 Forestdale exists: to celebrate life, share knowledge, inspire action, and nurture the nature we call home. Though our roots are in Forestdale, our branches reach far beyond - welcoming anyone who wants to live more in balance with the land we share.

Forest = for-rest
Forestdale, as in name, in nature.
Welcome to Forest 4 Forestdale: a community not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and celebrating the unique natural beauty that defines our neighbourhood.
Nestled between bushland and backyards, Forestdale is more than just a postcode. It’s a living landscape filled with towering gums, birdsong, fresh air, and a spirit of togetherness as rare as the Australian wildlife we share it with. We don’t just live here… we co-exist.
Our commitment is to honour the land we live on. Our shared backyard is more than fences and lawns, it’s a fascinating living ecosystem, home to native trees, choruses of the canopy, and curious creatures.
When you call Forestdale home, you know you’re part of something special: a community rooted together by the very landscape that’s home to both people and unique flora and fauna. It’s a valuable asset…one we all share, and one we must protect together.

Our Mission
Celebrating Nature in Our Suburbs, Together
Caring for the environment is caring for your community — they’re one and the same.
Our local efforts are part of a bigger mission to reverse broader ecological decline, because when urban nature thrives, so does urban life. We’re passionate about sharing the critical role urban trees play and the irreplaceable value of mature canopy. Our vision is for Forestdale to be recognised as a true example of ‘living with nature’, sustainable, loveable acreage living and a model for the future. We’re about action with heart and connection with nature, to nurture a strong communal voice that speaks up to safeguard Forestdale’s identifiable character and native wildlife and keep local planning balanced.

Caring for our backyard becomes something sweeter at Forest 4 Forestdale where learning, connection, and community spirit bring nature and neighbours together.
We need you to care for the forest in Forestdale — and the urban forests beyond.
You don’t need to be a tree hugger to acknowledge the importance of mature trees in urban backyards. Trees are virtually our alter ego — they take in what we exhale and, in return, produce life-giving oxygen.
They provide critical habitat, regulate precipitation, ensure soil stability, and naturally cool their surroundings for us to enjoy. They deserve to be embraced as indispensable green infrastructure.
We at Habitec envisage an urban environment richly diverse in native animal species, a world in which our future generations can live amongst the once thriving Australian Native fauna we know and love.

“There is nowhere in the world that I would rather live!”
What I Treasure Most About Living in Forestdale. Where do I even begin? Here are my top five reasons: 1. The green of the suburb as soon as you turn into the estate. 2. The tall original growth gum trees, home to so many different birds and animals, with hollows that provide perfect breeding and nesting places. 3. The quiet – some days, all you can hear is birdsong and the breeze moving through the trees. 4. I love how much cooler Forestdale is compared to neighbouring suburbs. The trees and canopy cover keep it much cooler even in the summer heat. 5. The connection with our neighbours – everyone looks out for one another and is always glad to stop for a friendly chat. There is nowhere in the world that I would rather live!

“Once you start being in this peaceful environment it changes you for the better.”
We chose Forestdale to escape constant road noise and neighbours right up close to us. It has been the perfect balance between seclusion and access to amenities and roads, creating an easy, slower lifestyle. Once you start being in this peaceful environment it changes you for the better. You relax into the rhythm of the place and it rewards you with its beautiful bird sounds, fresh air and peacefulness, wonderful walking tracks and greenspace, friendly neighbourhood and the ever surprising assortment of creatures who live here too. Feeling blessed to live within this environment means we never feel compelled to change it. We have something special here unique in its style that is good for the mind, body and soul. Who could ask for more.

Though our roots are in Forestdale, this is a call to every corner of Australia.
Living in balance with nature is the greatest gift we can give ourselves — a chance to create safe havens for our families, support native wildlife, and protect the natural wonder that makes every home and neighbourhood more liveable.
This isn’t just a local effort — it’s part of a growing collective effort. From suburbs to city blocks, we’re reimagining how communities can nurture biodiversity and safeguard what matters most — especially our mature trees. They are living infrastructure, essential where we live — and irreplaceable in any meaningful timeframe.
